Abstract
1,104,184. Waveguide filters. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. 16 May, 1966, No. 21547/66. Heading H1W. A waveguide filter comprises two or more waveguide cavities coupled both inductively and capacitatively so as to produce a rejection frequency. As shown, three half-wave resonant cavities 3, 4, 5 are stacked in the E-plane and coupled through common broad walls. Holes 1 and slots 2 respectively provide capacitative (X C ) and inductive (X L ) coupling, the condition for an attenuation pole being X C #1/X L. when ###/2, where # is the length of each cavity. The theory of the filter is more fully discussed in the Specification where it is shown to be equivalent to a bridged-T network. In the multi-cavity form, the cavities may provide different rejection frequencies within a desired band, or may be substantially identical.
