Abstract

1,019,385. Moving vehicles sideways. W. FLUCKIGER. Nov. 26, 1962 [Nov. 27, 1961], No. 44563/62. Heading B7J. A device to move a vehicle sideways comprises an arm 6 pivoted below the vehicle and a toothed sector 11 rigid with the arm and coaxial with the pivot axis of the arm engaged by a length of chain 12 one end of which is pulled by the piston rod 13 of hydraulic jack 14 to rotate the arm and raise the vehicle. The arm 6 and sector 11 are mounted on a tube 5 rotatable in a bearing 4 on a plate 1 secured to the vehicle, a further sector 10 being mounted on the tube 5 and connected by chain 9 to an arm return spring 8. The ground-engaging wheel 7 on arm 6 is driven by reversible motor M 2 through worm and wheel 15, 16, shaft 17, passing through tube 5, and chain drive 18, 19, 20.
