Abstract
101,929. Laurance, L. May 5, 1916. Lids and covers; opening-arrangements.-A case for eye-glasses &c., of the type in which the lid is snapped into the open and closed positions by a spring, is provided with moans whereby the lid may be lifted past the dead-point by pressure at the back of the lid, so that the case may be opened with one hand only. In the form shown, the lid b, hinged at c and connected to the body a by means of a spring d, is provided with an arm c, which projects through an opening f in the body of the case when the lid is closed. Pressure on the arm e forces the lid open past the dead-point, so that it may be snapped fully open by the spring. In a modification, the arm, in the closed position, bears against a second spring which carries a button projecting through the back of the case. When a leather cover is used, it may enclose the projecting arm and be provided with a thickening to indicate the point at which pressure is to be applied.
