Abstract

1,019,233. Blade wheel propeller. J. M. VOITH G.m.b.H. Sept. 24, 1962 [Sept. 28, 1961], No. 36158/62. Heading B7G. A propeller has a rotatable blade wheel 1 pivotally carrying blades 2 connected by linkage 8, 5, 7 to cross-heads 4 pivoted on a movable control plate 3, each lever 7 being pivoted at 6 to wheel 1 and being slidably mounted in cross-head 4, the axis of pivot 6 lying in the same radial plane as the axis of pivot 12 and the axis 11 of wheel 1. The arm of lever 7 which is connected to control plate 3 makes an angle of 10 degrees with said plane, whilst in Fig. 2 (not shown) it is coincident with the plane and the angle included by the arms of lever 7 is 100 degrees; in an arrangement in Fig. 3 (not shown) similar to Fig. 1, the included angle is 100 degrees. In Figs. la, 2a, 3a (not shown) the lever 7 is straight or nearly straight and is connected to wheel 1 by another lever, the ratio of the lengths of the arms of lever 7 is approximately 1.2: 1 and 1: 2 in Figs. 2a, 3a respectively. In Fig. 2a the pivot of the crosshead and the centre of the control plate coincide.
