Abstract

1,201,211. Ship stabilizer. BLOHM & VOSS A.G. 23 Jan., 1968 [24 Jan., 1967], No. 3503/68. Heading B7M. A roll stabilizer for a ship comprises a fin 15 rotatable about a shaft 9, the shaft having forked limbs 9a, 9b each pivotable on a pin 7, 8 secured in housing 16, a spindle 4 being secured to the fin and via a coupling joint to a drive shaft 1. The drive shaft 1 which rotates the fin is operated by a unit 20 itself operated by an electric motor. The coupling joint comprises a bar 2 on the drive shaft mounted in a guide block 3 which engages a forked member 6 on the spindle 4. Bar 2 is coaxial with pins 7, 8 when the pin is in its zero position. The pin is pivotable on pins 7, 8 into the ship. The pivoting is effected by hydraulic piston cylinders (29, Fig. 2, not shown) which move levers (28) to pivot a shaft (24) which moves lever (23), rod (22) and a lever (21) fastened to limb 9a, thus pivoting shaft 9 and the pin 15.
