Abstract

1,019,153. Filling containers. S. H. CECIL. July 8, 1964 [July 12, 1963], No. 27720/63. Heading B8T. [Also in Division H1] A reservoir for continuously topping up a battery with distilled water comprises a transparent container 2, divided into two compartments 8, 10 by an apertured partition 6, from the lower compartment 10 of which extends a plurality of spouts 14 and from the upper of which extends a valve 18 which controls flow of liquid from one compartment to the other. The valve comprises a plunger 20 surrounded by a deformable diaphragm. In use the reservoir spouts are fitted into the filling openings of a battery and the aperture 16 in the partition is closed by manually screwing the plunger into the reservoir. The upper compartment is then filled through opening 30 and its filling cap 32 is replaced before the aperture is re-opened. This arrangement keeps the battery continuously topped up.
