Abstract

A measuring instrument having a rotatable meter mechanism includes a tension strip made of an alloy consisting of 1-50% of one or more of the metals Fe, Co, Ni, W, Mo, Cu and Ag, and balance Pt, Pd and/or Rh, 1-30% of which may be replaced other platinum group metals e.g. Ir, Os and/or Ru and up to 20% of the platinum group metal content replaced by Au. For a binary alloy of Pt, the alloying metal is not less than 15%. A prior Pt-Ni alloy is disclosed containing 8-12.5% Ni.
