Abstract
The cyclic process of the parent specification, wherein hydrogen is purified by absorption on palladium sponge or powder and subsequent desorption therefrom at low pressure, is modified by substituting for the palladium sponge or powder used therein either (a) an alloy consisting of at least 70% Pd and one or more of the following in the amounts stated:-An or Ag-up to 30% Cu, Ni, Ru, Pt or Rh-up to 10% B-up to 1% or (b) inert particles, e.g. of alunina or thoria, coated with such an alloy or with Pd itself. The preferred alloy comprises 95% Pd and 5% Ag.
