Abstract

1401081 Powder mixtures OWENS-ILLINOIS Inc 8 May 1972 [6 May 1971] 21304/72 Heading C7D A homogeneous finely divided powder mixture of Au, Ag and at least one metal (M) chosen from Pd, Rh, Ir, In, Ru, Pt, Cu, Ni, is produced by forming a soluble salt solution of M and Ag, adding fine Au particles and a fine agglomerating agent, e.g. Al 2 O 3 , SiO 2 , TiO 2 to form a slurry, and adding a reducing agent to ppt M+Ag into the slurry. Several reducing agents are given of which hypophosphorous acid is preferred. The powder produced usually has at least some alloying of M and Ag, with the Au dispersed throughout, the powder of <5Á in size.
