Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce the Pd paste of superior printability by reducing the aqueous solution of Pd compound with the acid salt of hydrazine to produce the Pd powder which is spherical and has the specific size and density and dispersing the same together with inorganic compounds, metals, etc. into inert liquid vehicle.
CONSTITUTION: After the aqueous solution of Pd compound such as dichlorodiamine palladium is controlled of its pH1W11 with a buffer, it is reduced with the acid salt of hydrazine such as hydrazinium dichloride as a reducing agent at a temperature 10W100°C to allow Pd to deposit. Filtering this followed by washing yields the spherical Pd powder of high lightness, 0.1W4μ in diameter and 2W7g/cm3 in desity. This Pd powder; 15W92%, inorganic binder such as glass frit; 0W10%, metal powder such as of Au, Ag or Pt; 0W85%, hydroxide such as of Al, Mg or Zr; 0W10% are dispersed in inert vehicle such as ethyl cellulose to prepare the Pd paste. This yields the Pd paste of superior printability on substrate such as ceramics.
