Abstract

The tube forming the housing for the ball of a ball-point pen is made of an alloy containing 35-50 per cent palladium, 17-35 per cent. copper, the remainder of at least 15 per cent. being silver. Without reducing the silver content below 15 per cent, the alloy may also contain up to a total of 10 per cent. of gold, platinum, iridium, rhodium, osmium or ruthenium, and up to a total of 5 per cent. iron, nickel, cobalt, zinc or tin.
