Abstract
1,018,840. Ionization manometers. M. M. DUNKEL, [trading as E. LEYBOLD'S NUCHFOLGER]. June 2, 1964 [June 6, 1963], No. 22855/64. Heading H1D. In an ionization gauge a central cathode 2 is surrounded by a foraminous anode 3 and an ion collecting electrode 4 which define between them a substantially enclosed ionization chamber. As shown, the electrode 4 is provided with annular end plates 41. Grids 5, at or below cathode potential, inhibit the escape of electrons through the ends of the electrode system. The anode 3 and/or electrode 4 are made of a noble metal, e.g. platinum, or noble metal alloy to reduce secondary emission.
