Abstract

1,018,431. Spray-producers. FOAMITE Ltd. Feb. 17, 1964 [Jan. 8, 1963], No. 842/63. Heading B2F. A nozzle for producing fire-fighting aerated foam comprises a two-part tube 12 secured to a nozzle body 13 the latter having three integral tubular portions 14, 15 and 16 mounting at the discharge tip of the portion 16 an annular screw-on member 28 carrying four pins 26 which, in operation of the nozzle, create disruption of the liquid stream passing therethrough. A further disruption of the stream is effected by an inward annular flange 34 forming part of the member 33 which connects the parts of the tube 12. Water fed into the body portion 14 passes through a jet nozzle 20 which is located in the nozzle body portion 15, the annular space 22 therebetween receiving foam stabilizing compound fed through an inlet 21. This inlet is formed in one of a series of radial spokes joining the sleeve 17 of the body 13 to the tubular portions 14, 15 and 16 the spaces between the spokes serving as inlets for the air drawn into the tube 12 by the disrupted stream of water and compound mixture emerging from the portion 16. Air is also drawn in through holes 24 formed in the tube 12.
