1,018,268. Container closures. H. K. BROSS, and F. T. JOHMANN. Dec. 28, 1962, No. 48895/62. Heading B8T. An integrally moulded plastics closure member comprises a tubular discharge member 14, from which extends a pouring spout 18, and a plug member 19 formed integrally with an actuating lever 22, the lever and the discharge member being linked by an arcuate supporting arm 23. Stiffening ribs 24, 25 and 26 brace the supporting arm and also define an unbraced point 27, about which the lever pivots. A container 10 is formed with an annular opening which receives the annular groove 12 of the discharge member 14 and an annular flange 13 abuts the container wall. The discharge member initially has a lid 15 which is cut off, along line 16; to effect closure the lever is depressed to force the lower plug portion 20 into the discharge member 14; to open the closure the outer end of the lever is depressed. In a second embodiment the discharge member has no lid, but the plug member is initially moulded integrally with the mouth of the discharge member. A thin-walled portion extending between them is either cut, or sheared to provide a pouring outlet.
