Abstract

1,015,496. Boxes. BERGH BROS. CO. Inc. Feb. 6, 1964 [Feb. 7, 1963], No. 5114/64. Heading B8P. A knock-down box is formed of walls 26 (Fig. 2) with interlocking male and female fasteners 28, 30 and 48, 50, lower flanges 40 supporting a base 64 (Fig. 8, not shown) with side edges spaced inwardly from the side walls) and side wall filler pieces 66 tightly fitted between the base 64 and upper flanges 38. The male fasteners 28, 30 (Fig. 2) have slits 36 for locking engagement with the upper edges of female fasteners 48, 50. The walls may be fastened at any angle between 90 degrees and 180 degrees to form different shaped boxes, and walls may be secured one upon another by spot welding. Rounded comers may be formed by bending the walls 26. A similarly formed lid may be hinged to the box by conventional hinges aligned with the outer edges of the walls by cutting away portions of the flanges 38. The walls are stamped from lightweight metal sheets which are corrosion resistant.
