Abstract
1,246,570. Boxes. BERGH BROS. CO. Inc. 9 June, 1969 [17 Sept., 1968], No. 29087/69. Heading B8P. [Also in Division E2] The leaf of a hinge 16 for hinging a lid (14) to a box (12) is secured to an elongated steel strip 20 which is held against the inside of the back wall 18d of a wall member 18 by a bottom 22 which fits tightly within the wall member 18. The wall member 18 is formed from a bent metal strip, the ends of which are joined by male and female connectors and it is provided with upper and lower flanges 28, 30. The bottom 22 may be covered by a pad 24 of urethane foam and an insert member 26 of heavy paper or cardboard is sprung into the wall member 18 and is retained by side flaps 54 on the insert engaging under the upper flange 28 of the wall member 18. The lid is of similar construction and a final covering of silk may be applied to the insides of the lid and box.
