Abstract

1,014,755. Mobile jib cranes. E. KIRSTEN. Sept. 19, 1962 [Sept. 19, 1961], No. 35723/62. Heading B8B. A jib crane 3, Fig. 1, is supported on a vehicle by a rectangular box-shaped base plate 4 which has a pivot 13 which engages a bearing 14 on the chassis 1 and is supported at the back by rubber bearings 19-21 so that the base plate can pivot about its longitudinal axis and move longitudinally to a limited extent. The rubber bearings each comprise cup-shaped upper and lower casings 19, 20, Fig. 5, fixed to the base plate 4 and chassis 1 respectively, and a block of rubber 21. The edges 19<SP>1</SP> and 20<SP>1</SP> provide abutments to prevent excessive movement of the base plate 4 on the chassis. Bolts 22 secure the bearings and washers 23 with spherical bearing surfaces assist the flexibility of the connection. The crane slews on a ring-gear 2, Fig. 1; is luffed by an hydraulic ram 8 and has a winch 10 operated by a hydraulic motor 11 and a counterweight 12. The jib is telescopic. Outriggers 28, Fig. 2, not shown, may be provided.
