Abstract

101,453. Smith, M. O., and Frost, W. E. May 20, 1916. Needle - threaders. - A needle-threading attachment for sewing-machines is provided with a hook-carrying rod 30 which, in the inoperative position, is retracted by a spring 32 so as to be shielded between two bracket plates 12 carried bv a two-part clamp 2, 3 fixed to the machine arm. The lower member of the clamp has two ears 10, 11 underneath two horizontal shoulders 16, 17, and the plates are slotted longitudinally at 14 for adjustment. Journaled at the lower ends of the plates is a bar 22 having a thickened body 28, through which the rod 30 is adjustable and fixed by a set-screw 26. The plates are connected by an adjusting-stay 18, which has a threaded extension 19 and shoulder 19<1> at one end and a threaded socket 20 at the other end. The spring 32 connects the stay to the bar 22, and the rod is curved where it contacts with the stay so as to lie well within the plates.
