Abstract

121,402. Morgan, H. G., and Moody, A. H. Feb. 16, 1918. Twisting; stretching.-A machine for straightening and twisting wire comprises a bar F provided with a movable hook G<1> to which one end of the wire W is fixed. The other end of the wire is fixed to a hook B mounted on a lever A by which tension is applied to the wire to straighten it. The hook B may be twisted by a handle D locked by a screw N. A movable bracket C' guides the wire and is provided with a gripping-device to hold the wire when a loop is being formed. The lever A is locked by links M, M<1> secured to the bar F by a screw L. The lever A and hook G<1> may be fixed separately to a bench, wall, &c. In a modification, the bracket C<1> is fixed to the lever A, which is provided with a second hook. Fig. 5 shows an eccentric wiregripper H mounted on a frame G clamped to the bar F by a lever K. A measuring-scale may beprovided.
