In a needle threading device having a hook adapted to pull a thread through the eye of a needle fixed in the needle bar of a sewing- machine, the support for the hook is associated with means adapted to effect a clamping action on an end portion of the thread to support the latter for the threading operation. As shown, the needle-threading hook 3 is carried by a supporting member 2 fixed to the end of a rotatable bar 1, and the end of the thread is clamped between the lower end of member 2 and a disc 4 biased by a helical spring against the latter. In a modification the disc is replaced by a helical spring, between two adjacent turns of which the thread may be clamped. In a further modification, a leaf spring attached to the end of member 2 is adapted to exert clamping action on the thread. Specifications 721,329 and 746,208 are referred to.
