Abstract

1,014,042. Machine tool details. UNISTRUT PRODUCTS CO. Jan; 25, 1963 [Jan. 25, 1962], No. 3207/63. Heading B3B. [Also in Division B41 A vice comprises a channel- shaped base 5 having parallel sides 11 which terminate in inwardly and downwardly extending flanges 12, a pair of movable clamping blocks 6, 7 laterally recessed at 14, 15 respectively and dimensioned below the recesses to slidingly fit in the base with the flanges tracking in the recesses, a pedestal 8 fixed on the support and an adjusting screw 9 threaded in the pedestal to press the adjacent block 6 towards. the remote block 7. The flanges 12 terminate in edges 13 of V-shaped cross-section. The portions 19 of the clamping block 7 which define the recesses 15, and the base of the block, are inclined at an angle to the plane of the block to allow the block to tilt rearwardly and wedge in the base 5 on pressure being applied to the block 6 to clamp an object between the blocks.
