Abstract

1,013,653. Feeding bottles. LACTO-SEAL Inc. Jan. 28, 1964, No. 3504/64. Heading A5X. In order to maintain the teat of a feeding bottle sterile it is fitted with a cylindrical cover and its base is then introverted within the neck of the bottle where the teat and cover are locked by interengaging ribs. The teat is of the type which is attached.to the wide neck 27, Fig. 4, of the bottle 20 by a broad flange 26 around a flat annular portion 28. The upper portion 31 of the teat is associated with a conical, breast portion 34 mounted on a relatively thick, projecting base portion 33. The cover 23 comprises a cylindrical portion 37 provided with a closed, upper end 39 and a radially projecting, annular flange 40. This cover is pressed downwards over the teat, as in Fig. 6, and the movement is continued so that the annular portion 28 is pressed downwards within the neck. This is followed by introversion of the conical portion 34 which results in the projecting step of the base 33 turning over and engaging behind a projecting rim at the lower end of the cylindrical part 37 of the cover. This condition is shown in Fig. 8, in which it is also seen that the radial flange 40 presses tightly against the flat portion 28 to enhance the seal.
