Abstract

976,612. Feeding battle nipples. W. J. STRAUB. Feb. 19, 1963, No. 6563/63. Heading A5X. A feeding bottle nipple comprises a teat 12 and a base member 13 which is convex adjacent the teat on one side and concave adjacent the teat on the opposite side. Ribs 20 on the base member separate the concave and convex portions 17, 16. In use, the teat is placed in the mouth so that the upper lip contacts the convex portion 17 which is disposed forwardly of the concave portion 16 contacted by the lower lip. The side of the teat which is uppermost in use is thicker, more rigid and more convex than the opposite side of the teat and the portion of the teat adjacent the base member is flexible and thin-walled and forms a neck. The nipple is cast in rubber and the base member has a peripheral flange 24 and groove 27 so that it may be secured to a bottle 25 by a screw ring 26.
