1,013,202. Multiple fastenings. S. N. ABBOTT. Aug. 29, 1963 [Aug. 31, 1962], No. 33429/62. Heading E2A. Locking means for an article of furniture having a plurality of drawers 13, comprises a locking bar 14 vertically displaceable at a side of the drawers, projections 22 on the bar adapted to engage, when the respective drawers are closed with notches 12 and the lower edges of the adjacent sides of the drawers, spring means 15 biasing the locking bar to drawer-locking position, a cam 21 in operable engagement with the locking bar, and a key-operable lock 20 provided in a side of the article containing the drawers, the key whereof functions to cause turning of the cam 21 and displacement of the locking bar 14. As shown, the locking bar is located in a groove or channel in the side of the article.
