Abstract

1,011,098. Ships stabilizers. LICENTIA PATENT VERWALTUNGSG.m.b.H. June 8, 1962 [June 9, 1961], No. 22261/62. Heading B7M. [Also in Division F1] A stabilizing fin 7 on a ship which can be turned about the pivots 3 and 4 to move it from a stowed position to an operating position, comprises an hydraulic rotary van motor 13 and 14 to rotate the fin for stabilizing movements, in which the inner member 13 is joined to the supporting pivots 3 and 4 and the outer member 14 is joined to the fin 7 by resilient couplings 15. A casing 17 is rigidly connected to the fin 7 to surround the member 14 and is provided with a seal 18 around the member 19 so that the roller bearings 10 and 11, the exterior of the motor 13 and 14 and the parts 24 and 25 of the restoring mechanism can be supplied with oil to lubricate and prevent the ingress of water.
