Abstract

995,659. Outboard drives. SMITH'S (HARLOW) Ltd. July 16, 1963 [July 16, 1962], No. 27260/62. Heading B7V. An inboard outboard drive unit of the kind described in Specification 995,657 in which the housing 2 is mounted within a sleeve 58 which is fixed to the engine or part of the craft, said housing being rotatable within said sleeve so that the propeller 37 may be swung from its operative position laterally and upwards, a locking device being provided to hold the propeller in these positions. As shown, the locking device comprises a bolt 60 attached to sleeve 58 and arranged to engage a number of sockets 62 provided at angular intervals e.g. 90 degrees in the housing 2. A groove 63 is provided in housing 2 which extends through the sockets and locates the housing axially within the sleeve. The sleeve 58 passes through a hole 65 in transom 66 and the clearance between transom and sleeve is sealed by flexible ring 67. Specification 995,658 also is referred to.
