Abstract

1481576 Marine steering gear OUTBOARD MARINE CORP 28 Feb 1975 [15 April 1974] 8616/75 Heading B7V A steering system 11 comprises a marine propulsion unit 13 having a steerable part 27 to which a rotatable member 29 is connected and a helm housing 31 which includes a rotatable steering shaft 35. A first gear-box 55 aft is coupled to the rotatable member for common rotation therewith and is connected by flexible cable 17 having a rotatable inner core to second gear-box 55 forward connected to the rotatable steering shaft of the helm housing. The embodiments of Figs. 2-6 (not shown), have various arrangements of one and two helm housings connected to one or two propulsion units.
