Abstract

[Also in Division A4] A machine for washing dishes or clothes comprises a fixed cylindrical receptacle 5 having a base inclined towards an outlet provided with a filter 7, and within which is rotatably mounted a receptacle 14 having holes in its base, and a pump 8 for circulating washing water from the receptacle 5 to the receptacle 14, and directing a jet of water against, external blades 34 on the receptacle 4 to rotate the latter for spin drying the washed articles. The machine is controlled by a rotary distributing cock having a first inlet connected to the pump 8 through a heater 11, and a second inlet supplied direct from a water supply line. The cock has five different positions and is movable by a spring controlled by a push button. It is set initially to connect the water supply to the nozzle 30 to fill the receptacle 5 to a desired level, then moved to connect the pump 8 to the nozzle 30 for the washing operation, following which it is set to connect the pump 8 to produce the jet for rotating the receptacle 14 for spin-drying the clothes or dishes. The cock is next set to connect the pump 8 to drain, and when draining is completed it is turned to a position in which none of its inlets and outlets are in communication, and the washed and dried articles are removed from the machine.
