Abstract

1,009,003. Rope couplings; eyes. MALODAN A. S. July 25, 1962 [July 28, 1961], No. 28603/62. Heading D1T. [Also in Division F2] In a rope clamp of the kind comprising at least two wedge shaped members 52 for surrounding the rope, and a tapered outer casing 54 into which the members 52 can be forced to squeeze them on to the rope, there is in at least one of the members 52 a rope accommodating groove 66 having at least two portions of different cross section such that one groove portion is of smaller width and greater depth than the other groove portion, as in Figs. 9 and 11 which are cross-sections along the lines IX-IX and XI-XI respectively in Fig. 8. In Fig. 7 a threaded member 60 is used to force the wedges into the tapered casing 54. Alternatively the tapered casing 54 may be screwed on to the wedge shaped members to force them together. The grooves 66 may be formed with ribs 70. Fig. 1, (not shown) illustrates the rope clamp when used to fasten a wire rope round a thimble to form an eye.
