Abstract

1,008,682. Electric equipment housings. A. C. MANTICA. Nov. 27, 1963 [Nov.28. 1962], No. 45065/62. Heading H1R. A cabinet, e.g. for electrical equipment, having a rectangular opening in one face thereof, has a flange recessed into the cabinet around the opening, said flange comprising a pair of members on opposite sides of the opening having flat surfaces parallel to the opening, and a second pair of members on the other two opposite sides of the opening having outwardly inclined planar surfaces extending from the first pair of members to the exterior of the cabinet. As shown, Fig. 5, an open-fronted cabinet has a flange, to which an instrument panel can be secured, comprising two horizontal members H and two vertical members V. Each horizontal member H, Fig. 3, comprises a length 9 of L-section metal sheet spot-welded, bolted, or riveted to the top 4 or the base 3 of the cabinet, the front edge of 9 being shaped at 9a to receive one end of a second length of metal 13, which is riveted to 9 at 10, lengths 9 and 13 forming a flange of triangular section. Each vertical member V, Fig. 4, comprises a length 11 of channel section metal, having one limb welded &c. to a side 1 or 2 of the cabinet, and the base of 11 having two nuts 12 secured thereto to enable the instrument panel (not shown) to be bolted to the flange. The back 5 of the cabinet has ventilation louvres 7, and louvres may also be provided in the top, base and sides.
