Abstract

1,006,621. Sleeve couplings. UNITEDCARR Inc. July 8, 1963 [July 13, 1962,] No. 26981/63. Heading H2E. An electrical connector comprises a body rolled from a sheet metal blank, defining openings, one at each end, for receiving insulated wires, and being formed with two sets of cutting edges 26 and 30, the spacing between the edges 30, being a little less than the diameter of the core of the wire. Each wire is inserted from one end and then drawn upwards against edges 26, and folded back on itself so that it is drawn into the slot defined by edges 30. During this process the edges cut through the insulation and make contact with the core. An insulated sleeve can be fitted round the connector. In a modification, Figs. 5, 6 and 7 (not shown), the connector is formed at one end as described above, and the other end is formed as a U-shaped trough which is crimped about the bared end of a second wire.
