Abstract

1,005,926. Hinges and pivots. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC, & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. June 13, 1962 [June 16, 1961], No. 22725/62. Heading E2F. Two members 12, 13, which may be parts of a car radio receiver, are connected rigidly to one another in relatively adjustable positions by means of two pivotally connected arms 1, 1a, each arm being provided with at least one arcuate slot 3, 3a and a hole 2, 2a at the centre of curvature of the slot to accommodate a screw 14, 15 for securing the arm to one of the members, and means also being provided for locking the arms against relative pivotal movement. Preferably each arm is provided with a ring of teeth or serrations 6 adapted to interengage with one another when a nut 5 on the pivot bolt 10 is tightened, and a resilient disc 11 urges the arms away from one another when the nut is loosened. The arm 1a is formed with a circular rib 8 so that when the nut is tightened the portions of the arms located within the rib are deflected towards one another.
