Abstract
1,258,075. Hinges. FRANCIS SUMNER ENG. Ltd. 8 April, 1969 [5 April, 1968], No. 16526/68. Heading E2F. In a hinge comprising a first element 11 for attachment to a first member (not shown), pivoted about a hinge pin 38 to a second element 12 having a spigot 37 for reception in a socket 51 of a second member, resilient means 40 provide a frictional resistance to the relative pivotal movement of the elements 11, 12. The resilient means is a Belville washer on the hinge pin between the elements or between one of the elements and a head on the hinge pin. The frictional resistance afforded by the Belville washer can be adjusted by nut 45. Shoulders 20, 21, 33, 34 on the elements 11, 12 limit their relative angular movement. (For Figure see next page)
