A knuckle joint in a window stay is characterized in that the pivot holes in either the forked component 14 and/or 10 or in the fork engaging component 18 are smaller than that or those in the other component, the component with the smaller hole(s) being formed, at least in the region of the hole(s) ,of a resilient, e.g. plastics, material, and the pivot pin having one or more portions of reduced diameter to engage the corresponding hole(s) in the component having the smaller hole(s) and at least one enlargement to engage the hole(s) in the other component. The stay shown has two joints of this type, porti¾n 18 having the smaller holes and being made of a polyformaldehyde resin, with a pivot pin as at 17 being used. The joint is assembled by driving a pilot pin shaped, e.g. as at 22, through the pivot holes to align them, and following behind this pin with the pivot pin.
