Abstract

1,004,270. Doors. PEASE WOODWORK CO. Inc. May 16, 1962 [May 29, 1961], No. 18860/62. Heading E1J. A door or other building panel comprises an internally bevelled rectangular timber frame 20-23, covered with metal sheets 24, 28 and having a core 31 of expanded polystyrene. The sheets 24, 28 are folded back into edge grooves 26 to prevent heat transmission, and the groove may be sealed with a strip. The sheets are each reinforced by an extra sheet 39 at the bottom to form a kicking plate, and they may be separated by a centre strut 36, with a lock block 38. Holes 32, 34 are provided in the top and bottom frame members, for ventilation, and also for the entrance of steam probes for converting the beads of polystyrene into a foam. Bulbous, magnetic or flat vinyl weather stripping 47 may be used round the door jambs, and a flat or bulbous vinyl strip on the bottom of the door frame, to contact a threshold bar.
