Abstract
1,004,167. Wire terminals. AMP Inc. Feb. 18, 1964 [March 2, 1963], No. 6630/64. Heading H2E. [Also in Division B3] An electrical connection comprises a connector with a cylindrical ferrule 20 and a conductor 21, the ferrule being crimped to the conductor, giving the conductor a substantially elliptical section having a major axis substantially equal to the original diameter of the conductor or, if the conductor is stranded, of an equivalent solid conductor, the deformed ferrule having opposite ears 4<SP>1</SP>, comprising folds of substantially twice the original thickness of the ferrule metal, and arcuate parts of reduced thickness embracing the conductor. Curved transition zones 15<SP>1</SP>, 17<SP>1</SP>, 18<SP>1</SP> are provided at the ends of the crimped area, the zones 18<SP>1</SP> extending further than the other zones into the area. The ferrule may have a longitudinal, brazed seam (not shown) and be crimped in more than one area, Fig. 9 (not shown).
