Abstract
1,003,688. Wrapping-machines. KONINKLIJKE NEDERLANDSCHE PAPIER FABRIEK. Sept. 8, 1961 [Sept. 10, 1960], No. 32375/61. Heading B8C. Apparatus for successively wrapping reams of paper comprises a stationary frame supporting a reciprocatory table formed of sections 7, 7<SP>1</SP> and 8, a rotatory roller 14 for guiding a web of material 15 through a slit between the roller and section 8, clamping elements 19 and a brake shoe 20 stationary relative to the frame and the table respectively and arranged to hold and release alternately the end of the material 15, a co-operating rotary blade 11 and shear blade 12 for periodically severing a length from the web of material extending over table sections 7 and 7<SP>1</SP> between the elements 19 and shoe 20, and plates 9, 10 for periodic displacement into the path of the reams when the table is moving to the supply end of the apparatus. In use reams pushed to the centre of a stationary table 1 by means 2, 3 (Fig. 1) are displaced on to table section 8 by a pusher 6 (Fig. 3), and the sections 7, 7<SP>1</SP> and 8 are moved to the left with the plates 9, 10 raised and the material 15 clamped by shoe 20. The material is clamped by adjustable elements 19, shoe 20 is released, and plates 9, 10 are lowered. As sections 7, 7<SP>1</SP> and 8 are moved to the right the material 15 is drawn off roll 18 and eventually a length thereof lies between the table top and the ream of paper which has been displaced by plate 10 on to table section 7<SP>1</SP>. Another ream is pushed on to section 8 and brake shoe 20 is engaged against roller 14 (Fig. 3). The material 15 is severed by blades 11, 12 (see also Figs. 5, 6, not shown) and elements 19 are released. Plates 9, 10 are raised and the table moves to the left. Table section 7<SP>1</SP> moves a little further to the left (Fig. 4) to transfer the ream and wrapper to further packing means (not shown) and then moves back to the right. Plates 9, 10 are adjustable. The machine may be operated by pneumatic or electromagnetic means.
