Abstract
1,003,406. Friction clutches. AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS CO. Ltd. July 21, 1964 [July 22, 1963], No. 28974/63. Heading F2C. To prevent distortion of a diaphragm spring 2 in a friction clutch, the diaphragm spring 2 and clutch cover 1 are secured together by circumferentially spaced rivets 8 each of which has an axial slot 7, receiving fulcrum rings 6, 5, one on either side of the spring 2. The ends 10 of the rivets 8 are outwardly deformed and secured in the clutch cover 1, and the rivets 8 may be cut from round section bar and slotted or, made from strip metal formed into a U. The pressure plate of the clutch is connected by drive straps to the usual engine flywheel.
