Abstract

[Also in Division B3] In a rotary-piston internal combustion engine wherein the stator is constituted by a peripheral ring 1 surrounding the rotor 3, and two end plates, the combustion chambers 2 are formed in the stator ring 1 and are given a shape in the form of a wedge. The chambers may be formed by broaching as shown in Fig. 12, the broach having a circular or straight sided section, or by milling as shown in Figs. 11, 13 and 14. Poppet valves may be located in the chambers, which may alternatively each be formed as two intersecting truncated cones, each coaxial with a valve (Fig. 16). A spark plug may be located in the stator ring or in the adjacent end cover.
