Abstract

1,002,666. Seals. HEWITT-ROBINS INTERNATIONAL S.A. Oct. 6, 1961 [Oct. 7, 1960; Sept. 14, 1961], No. 35993/61. Heading F2B. An idler roller 10 is sealed against entry of dirt &c. by a resilient collar 12 detachably secured to the roller shaft 11 and bearing in sealing contact against the end face of the roller. The collar 12, which may be of rubber, neoprene or other synthetic resin material, is threaded on to the shaft and secured by a nut 17, held under compression in a U-shaped slot 15 in a bracket 16, and has a flange 13 in sealing contact at 14 with the roller which is further sealed by a lip seal 18 and a labyrinth packing 21.
