[Also in Division B7] Conveyance means for transporting pallet supported goods between and on vehicles, or loading platforms or generally around storage spaces comprises a floor structure 10 provided with openings 12 and pallets 40 having an air - tight bottom, preferably hollow to form a chamber as shown. Each opening 12 is connected as by a conduit 18 to an air pressure supply pipe 14 but a fly valve 20 is normally closed by a spring 26 to prevent escape of air unless back pressure through a conduit 32 operates a diaphragm 28. The ports 34 of the conduits 32 preferably open into an associated groove 36 adjacenteach opening 36. In use the pallets are initially raised by an air cushion by admitting air through a starter port 50 or by manual opening of a selected valve 20 to set up a back pressure which will act through all the conduits 32 under the pallet 40 to open the associated valves 20. As the pallet 40 is moved, the provision or removal of back pressure will operate the appropriate valves 20. In a modification a plenum chamber replaces individual conduits 18 and the pallets may be provided with manually controlled outlets in their side flanges so that escape of air may provide a propulsive force.
