A truck for use on a floor 28 provided with truck-operated air discharge valves 32 comprises an upper surface 20 supported by trusswork 18 from the composite lower wall having a compressible middle layer 24 and a lower layer 26 of ply, linoleum &c. Through this lower wall are provided bleed passages 42 leading to interior of the truck so that when the pivoted valve 52 is opened the friction-reducing air film under the truck is bled-off to render the truck immobile. Operation of the handle 48 effects the opening and closing of the valve 52. U.S.A. Specification 2,918,183 is referred to.
