Invention background

The present invention relates to multiple point lock devices, that is to say to several bolts actuated simultaneously from a common lock mechanism. In particular, the present invention relates to strip, or surface-mounted lock devices, which are mounted on one side of a leaf.

There are various multi-point door lock devices, including mortise or mortise locks, and strip or overlay locks.

Larder locks with multiple points are well known devices consisting of a headrest on which are mounted, on either side of a central housing, housings provided with deadbolts. The lock is then installed in the free edge of a leaf, via a recess previously made. Larder locks have the particular advantage of being able to be easily installed on leaves opening on the right side or on leaves opening on the left side, which does not require the locksmith to have two stocks of locks depending on the opening direction of the leaf to be fitted.

However, such locks are not compatible with all the leaves, in particular because they require the creation of a recess in the edge of the leaf, which is not always possible or desired.

Band locks are devices which are positioned on one side of the leaf, the inner side. Strip locks are generally mounted in a housing in which the lock mechanism is housed and one side of which, by which the bolts come out, is coplanar with the free edge of the leaf. Such locks have the advantage of being easy to install, in particular in comparison to mortise locks, since they do not require a recess in the edge of the leaf. Furthermore, they have better resistance to burglary.

However, such locks cannot be installed interchangeably on the right or left side of a leaf. Locksmiths must therefore have two stocks, one for the leaves opening on the left and one for the doors opening on the right.

Furthermore, the strip locks being visible on the inside of the leaf, they are generally chosen with a height substantially equal to that of the leaf, for aesthetic reasons. The stock of devices is therefore particularly bulky.

In order to solve these difficulties, strip locks have been designed comprising on the one hand a body intended to be fixed on an exposed face of the leaf and comprising a hollowed edge which can receive a larder lock. Such a device is described in particular in applications FR 2 745 322 and FR 2 646 871. However, such devices remain less effective and less practical than standard strip locks.

Symmetrical strip devices have also been provided, allowing installation on the left or right side of a leaf. Such a lock is described in particular in document FR 2 800 117. However, the operations to be carried out to change the installation side of a lock remain complicated and numerous.

Subject and summary of the invention

The present invention aims to solve the various technical problems stated above. In particular, the present invention aims to provide a strip lock device facilitating the installation of the lock on the left or right side of a leaf. Another object of the present invention is to provide a lock device which can be transported more easily.

Thus, in one aspect, there is provided a support, or chassis or casing, for strip lock device, or surface mounted, extending in a longitudinal direction and comprising several bolts. The support comprises at least one U-shaped section with a longitudinal central portion connecting two longitudinal side wings, the longitudinal central portion being intended to be fixed along an edge of an exposed surface of a door leaf. The support comprises means for fixing and guiding a linkage intended to be actuated by a lock box, and to drive one or more bolts of the strip lock device. The means for fixing and guiding the linkage are configured to mount a linkage in the U-shaped section centered between the two side wings.

The support is in particular provided to limit the operations to be carried out when changing the installation side of the lock device. Thus, the support according to the invention provides in particular means for fixing the linkage which are mounted centered in the support, so as not to have to handle the linkage when changing sides, the centered positioning of the latter making it possible to have a symmetrical structure in the longitudinal direction of the support. Then simply install accordingly, according to the opening direction of the leaf, the lock box and the bolts of the device, which are intended to be mounted in both directions, to obtain a device suitable for opening the leaf. . By limiting the parts to be handled when changing sides, the work of the locksmith is made easier, while retaining the advantages of strip locks.

Thus, the support according to the invention can be installed on the left or right side of the leaf, without requiring an inversion or a pivoting of the support. More precisely, one or the other of the longitudinal lateral wings of the support is positioned substantially coplanar with the free edge of the leaf, in the direction of opening of said leaf:

the right wing if the leaf opens on the right side, or the left wing if the leaf opens on the left side.

Preferably, the fixing and guiding means comprise: guide means configured to guide the linkage in translation in the longitudinal direction and fixing means configured to keep the linkage engaged on the guide means. The guide means may for example comprise one or more shoulders configured to cooperate with one or more slots of the linkage, and the fixing means may comprise one or more stops fixed to the guide means and holding the slot (s) of the linkage on the shoulder (s).

Preferably, the means for fixing and guiding the linkage are mounted in the U-shaped section centered between the two lateral wings, or symmetrically with respect to a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal central portion passing through the longitudinal direction of the longitudinal central portion.

Thus, the U-shaped profile can comprise a longitudinal plane of symmetry, and the means for fixing and guiding the linkage can be mounted in said U-shaped profile symmetrically with respect to said longitudinal plane of symmetry of the U-shaped profile.

Preferably, the support comprises two U-shaped profiles intended to be mounted in the same longitudinal direction along said edge of the exposed surface of the door leaf. The two profiles each comprise, at one end, a part of a connecting means, for example a male part and a female part, the parts of the connecting means being configured to allow a joining of the two U-shaped profiles in said longitudinal direction. .

Preferably, the decorative cover comprises two U-shaped profiles intended to be fixed on the two U-shaped profiles of the support. Here again, the use of a cover in two parts makes it possible to reduce the overall size of the lock device. Preferably, the keeper comprises two longitudinal parts of length substantially equal to that of the U-shaped profiles of the decorative cover. Detailed description of the invention

Figures 1 and 2 illustrate a lock device 1 according to the invention, intended to equip a door leaf.

The lock device 1 is a multi-point strip (or surface-mounted) lock device, in which a support housing the various elements of the lock, is fixed to a face, generally interior, of the leaf. The lock device 1 having several locking points, it conventionally extends in a longitudinal direction.

The lock device 1 thus comprises a support 2 (or casing or chassis) in which the elements of the lock are housed, in particular: a lock casing 4, a linkage 6 and bolts 8.

More specifically, the lock device 1, and in particular its support 2, are formed from two parts, a lower part shown in FIG. 1 and an upper part shown in FIG. 2, intended to be assembled together in the longitudinal direction, to form said lock device 1. The support of the lower and upper parts comprises in particular a part of a connecting means, in particular a male part 10 on the lower part of the support 2, and a female part 12 on the upper part of the support 2. The male 10 and female 12 parts are configured to cooperate together and secure the two parts of the support 2 in the longitudinal direction.

The realization of the support 2 in two parts makes it possible to reduce the size of the lock device 1, in particular for the locksmith who must transport several similar lock devices. The support 2 in two parts thus facilitates storage and transport, while guaranteeing correct mechanical strength of the lock device 1 when it is mounted, thanks to the connecting means which ensure that the device is secured in the longitudinal direction.

The support 2 is conventionally formed of a U-shaped profile with a longitudinal central portion 14 and two lateral wings 16. The U-shaped profile can thus have a plane of symmetry comprising the longitudinal direction of the U-shaped profile and perpendicular to the central portion 14 The central portion 14 is intended to be fixed to the face of the leaf, while the two lateral wings delimit the U-shaped section in which are housed the lock housing 4, the linkage 6 and the bolts 8. One of the wings side 16 is intended to be positioned in a coplanar manner with the free edge of the leaf: thus, if the leaf opens on the left side, it is the left wing which will come to position in a coplanar manner with the edge of the leaf, while if the leaf opens on the right side, it is the right wing which will position itself coplanar with the edge of the leaf. The central portion 14 and the lateral wings 16 of the upper and lower parts of the lock device 1 are provided with identical sections, so as to be able to correspond best, mechanically and aesthetically, when the lock device 1 is assembled.

According to the invention, the support 2 comprises means for fixing and guiding 18 of the linkage 6, so that the linkage is mounted centered in the U-shaped profile of the support 2. The fixing and guide means 18 can for example comprising shoulders cooperating with slots 20 of the linkage 6. The fixing and guiding means 18 may also include screws screwed into the shoulders and coming to bear on the linkage 6 in order to keep it engaged with the shoulders.

The fixing and guiding means 18 therefore make it possible to guide the linkage 6 in translation in the longitudinal direction, while keeping it in the U-shaped profile of the support 2.

In order to center the linkage in the U-shaped profile of the support 2, the slots 20 of the linkage 6 can be made in the middle of the linkage 6, while the fixing and guiding means 18 can be mounted centered in the U-shaped profile. support 2.

Alternatively, the fixing and guiding means could be mounted symmetrically with respect to the plane of symmetry of the U-shaped profile.

The linkage 6 is mounted on the fixing and guiding means 18, sliding in the longitudinal direction. The linkage 6 being mounted centered in the U-shaped section, it is not dismantled or modified according to the opening direction of the leaf. Furthermore, and in order to facilitate cooperation between the linkage 6 and the lock housing 4 or the bolts 8, the latter has a plane of symmetry substantially identical to that of the U-shaped profile, that is to say a plane of symmetry comprising the longitudinal direction of the linkage 6 and perpendicular to the plane of the linkage 6.

Thus, the linkage 6 may comprise means of cooperation 22 with the lock housing 4, for example lugs, and means of cooperation 24 with the bolts 8, for example lugs. When the cooperation means 22 or 24 are not centered on the linkage 6, these are split so as to be symmetrical with respect to the plane of symmetry of the linkage. This is the case for example for the means of cooperation 24 with the bolts 8: depending on the opening direction of the leaf, only one of the means of cooperation 24 will be used.

The lock housing 4 is configured to be mounted one way or the other. Such lock housings 4 are conventional for those skilled in the art, and it is generally sufficient, when changing direction, to modify only the orientation of the latch bolt.

The lock housing 4 must also drive the linkage 6 in translation in order to be able to actuate the bolts 8. In the embodiment described in the figures, the cooperation means 22 of the linkage 6 being centered in the U-shaped profile, the lock housing 4 comprises drive means 26 of the linkage 6 which are also centered, in order to be positioned at the level of the cooperation means 22 of the linkage 6. The drive means 26 may for example comprise a deflection arm with a slot at its end intended to receive the lug of the cooperation means 22. Furthermore, the drive means 26 may also include a slot in order to cooperate with the guide and fixing means 18 to translate along the longitudinal direction.

Figures 3 and 4 thus illustrate the mounting of the lock housing 4 and the bolts 8 in the lock device 1, according to the opening direction of the leaf. In FIG. 3, the opening of the leaf is carried out from the right, while in FIG. 4, the opening of the leaf is carried out from the left. As can be seen, the linkage 6 remains in the same place in both situations, thanks to its centered position. Likewise, the linkage 6 can be actuated in both cases with the lock box 4 thanks to the drive means 26, the centered ends of which can always cooperate with the cooperation means 22 of the linkage 6.

The bolts 8 are mounted sliding in translation in the U-shaped section, in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the lock device 1. In order to be driven in translation by the movement of the linkage 6, the lock device 1 comprises actuation means 28 in the form of a square cooperating on the one hand with the cooperation means 24 of the linkage 6, and on the other hand with the bolt 8. The actuation means 28 make it possible to convert the translational movement of the linkage 6 in the longitudinal direction, in a translational movement perpendicular to the longitudinal direction.

In order to allow installation in the two directions of opening of the leaf, the bolts 8 and the actuation means 28 are configured to be turned 180 ° relative to the longitudinal direction. As the cooperation means 24 of the linkage are symmetrical relative to the plane of symmetry of the U-shaped section, the bolts 8 and the actuation means 28 can cooperate with the linkage 6, even after turning 180 ° relative to the direction longitudinal.

As illustrated in FIGS. 3 and 4, according to the opening direction of the leaf, the actuation means 28 cooperates with one or the other of the cooperation means 24 of the linkage 6, in order to drive the bolt 8 in translation.

Thus, to change the opening direction of the lock device 1, it suffices to dismantle the lock box 4, the actuating means 28 and the bolts 8, to turn them 180 ° and to re-mount them on the linkage 6. On the other hand, the support 2 remains in the same orientation. In particular, the two lateral wings 16 each comprise holes for the passage of the bolts 8, in order to adapt to the two directions of opening.

In order to obtain a finished aesthetic appearance, the lock device 1 also comprises a decorative cover 30 (see FIGS. 5 and 6) covering the support 2. Thus, the cover 30 conventionally comprises a U-shaped profile with a central portion closing the U-shaped profile of the support 2, and two lateral wings positioned along the lateral wings 16 of the support 2. The decorative cover 30 can be fixed on the support 2 by fixing the wings of the cover 30 on the wings 16 of the support 2.

Similar to the support 2, the decorative cover 30 can comprise two parts, each part being fixed to one of the parts of the support 2. Thus, thanks to the lock device 1 according to the invention, it is possible to have a strip lock which can easily be adapted to the opening direction of the leaf, thanks to a limited number of elements to be turned over. Furthermore, thanks to its two-part design, the lock device 1 according to the invention becomes easier to store and transport. This limits the quantity and size of the locks to be transported for a locksmith.
