The invention relates to an applicator for a cosmetic product and an associated applicator assembly.

Cosmetic product applicator assemblies are known, in particular for a cosmetic product intended to be applied to eyelashes such as mascara, comprising a container containing the cosmetic product and an applicator adapted to be removably attached to the container.

The container generally comprises a body, the body comprising walls defining a reservoir in which the cosmetic product is contained, and a neck defining an opening through which the cosmetic product can be extracted. The applicator assembly generally includes a cap adapted to be attached to the neck, a stem extending from the plug and an applicator attached to a free end of the stem. The applicator comprises a core and a plurality of protuberances or bristles extending from the core. When the cap is fixed on the neck, the rod and the applicator extend inside the tank. The applicator is immersed in the cosmetic product contained in the reservoir.

To use the applicator, the user detaches the neck cap and extracts the applicator from the container. To prevent the applicator from being overloaded with cosmetic product, the container generally comprises a wiper, fixed inside the neck. When the user extracts the applicator from the container, the applicator slides inside the wiper. The wiper scrapes the cosmetic product in excess on the stem and the applicator. The wiper thus makes it possible to regulate the quantity of product present on the applicator and avoids an excessive application of cosmetic product on the eyelashes. The wiper limits, in particular, the amount of product present on the protuberances. Two parameters interact for this purpose. The inner diameter of the wiper and the radial extension of the protuberances. By radial extension of a protuberance is meant the distance between the longitudinal axis of extension of the core and the free end of the protuberance.

Thus, the amount of desired product on the protuberances at the outlet of the wiper results from the compromise between the internal diameter of the wiper and the radial extension of the protuberances. Furthermore, it is known that the zones having protuberances of lower radial extension favor the loading of the applicator while the zones having protuberances of longer radial extension favor the combing of the eyelashes. However, the applicators comprising protuberances intended to reinforce the combing effect of the eyelashes are today used with large diameter cores. The associated wiper then has a large diameter and, consequently, the receptacle intended to receive it too. Therefore, the associated applicator assembly has an external diameter too high compared to the desired aesthetics for this type of product. One possibility to mitigate this disadvantage is to reduce the diameter of the applicator core. This induces another disadvantage, that of reducing the rigidity of the applicator core. It is an object of the present invention to provide an applicator which comprises protrusions for combing the eyelashes, which has a sufficiently rigid core and which does not induce the use of bulky containers. Thus, the invention relates to an applicator for a cosmetic product comprising a core having a first end, said proximal end, and a second free end, said distal end, and a plurality of protuberances projecting from the core. said protuberances being molded with the soul. According to the invention the core has a heart and ribs extending between its proximal end and its distal end, from the heart. The invention relates to an applicator 10 for a cosmetic product comprising a core 12 having a first end, said proximal end 13, and a second free end, said distal end 16, and a plurality of protuberances 30 projecting from the end 12. The core 12 is further extended here by a sleeve 14 for fixing the applicator 10, extending from the proximal end 13 of the core 12. Said protuberances 30 are molded with the 12. In other words, the protuberances 30 may be derived from material with the core 12 or molded onto the core 12.

In the exemplary embodiment illustrated here, the core 12 has a core 11 and ribs 17. These ribs 17 extend from the core 11 of the core 12, between the proximal end 13 and the distal end 15. of said core 12 (see Figure 1). The protuberances 30 preferably extend from the ribs 17 (see FIG. 2). They can also extend directly from the core 11 of said core 12. In addition, the protuberances 30 are divided into different rows, oriented longitudinally. Indeed, the protuberances 30 are arranged in a plurality of rows R1-R12 extending in the extension direction of the core 12, marked X in Figure 1.

The rows R1-R12, visible in FIG. 2, are all parallel to an axis of the core 12, in particular its longitudinal axis of extension X. The rows R1-R12 are spaced radially around the periphery of the core 12 at a constant angular distance. This angular distance may vary from one embodiment to another. In the embodiment illustrated here, the angular distance is 30 °. In other words, the rows R1-R12 are twelve in number. In the embodiment described here, the ribs 17 are parallel to the longitudinal extension axis X of the core 12. FIGS. 2 and 3 show in detail these ribs 17. Thus, it is possible to see, here , that they have a rounded section. More specifically, the cross section of said ribs 17 is substantially omega-shaped (0).

By transverse section is meant any transverse section made in a plane orthogonal to the longitudinal axis X of the core 12. It is particularly visible in FIG. 3 that these ribs 17 are distributed around the core 11 of the core. 12. More specifically, the ribs 17 are spaced radially around the periphery of the core 11 at a constant angular distance. In the example shown here, the angular distance is 90 °. In other words, said ribs 17 are four in number. A cross section of the core 11 has a substantially circular shape whose diameter d11 will be in the range [0.5; 2.5mm], preferably equal to 1.5mm (see FIG. 3). This same cross section will have a maximum space occupied by the ribs 17 in the form of a circle of diameter d17 which will be in the range [1.5; 3.5mm], preferably equal to 2.8mm. Advantageously, the ratio c1i_17 is between 0.4 and 0.7, d11 and d17 being measured in the same unit. In the exemplary embodiment described here, the core has a constant section from its proximal end 13 to its distal end 16. On the other hand, the core 12 will be molded in plastic material, like the protuberances 30 which will be preferably, molded with the same plastic as the core 12, or even the material of the soul 12.

For example, the core 12 and the protuberances 30 may be molded from a material based on LDPE (low density polyethylene). Other materials may still be used, namely ExxonMobil's "EXACT" material or Dupont's "HYTREL" material or a mixture of these materials.

It should be noted that the applicator 10 forms, advantageously, a brush. It should also be noted that the ribs 17 of the core 12 according to the invention do not allow the application of cosmetic product to the eyelashes.

The invention also relates to an applicator assembly for a cosmetic product, comprising a container comprising a body forming a reservoir containing the cosmetic product, and an applicator as previously described, adapted to be fixed on the container, so that the applicator is housed inside the tank. Said applicator 10 is fixed, for example, to the end of a rod, itself attached to a cap advantageously screwed to the container. After assembly, the sleeve 14 is located in the rod and the proximal end 13 of the core forms the visible proximal end of the applicator.

Thus, the ribbed core according to the invention, in particular cross-core, has the advantage of providing, at constant bulk, a rigidity greater than that of a cylindrical core. The container has a neck whose diameter, including the internal diameter, is limited. This prevents the use of large applicators and justifies the use of an applicator with a ribbed core, especially cross, because usually the stiffness is obtained by increasing the diameter of cylindrical cores, at the expense of the length of the radial extension of the protuberances.

It should also be noted that variant embodiments are of course possible. In particular, it is also conceivable, in a further exemplary embodiment, that the applicator of the invention comprises a curved core.
