En référence aux figures, on décrit un cache bagages 1 pour un compartiment à bagages de véhicule automobile, ledit compartiment comprenant deux ébénisteries 2 latérales de garnissage, ledit cache bagages comprenant : - un rideau 3 souple comprenant un bord avant 4 et un bord arrière 5, - un dispositif de rappel 6 dudit rideau associé audit bord avant, de sorte que ledit rideau puisse être actionné entre une configuration déployée de recouvrement dudit compartiment et une configuration rétractée de rangement, - une plaque 7 de rigidification associée le long dudit bord arrière, ladite plaque étant pourvue d'un insert 8 métallique allongé de renfort s'étendant transversalement, - des moyens de verrouillage 10 destinés à coopérer avec des moyens de verrouillage réciproques 13 prévus sur lesdites ébénisteries pour maintenir ledit rideau en configuration de recouvrement, ledit insert étant de dimension transversale supérieure à celle de ladite plaque de manière à présenter deux parties extrêmes 9 saillant latéralement de part et d'autre de ladite plaque, lesdites parties extrêmes formant support desdits moyens de verrouillage. Selon la réalisation représentée (figure 3), l'insert 8 est sous forme d'une tôle repliée, de sorte que ledit insert présente une partie médiane 11 de section sensiblement homogène s'étendant selon toute la dimension transversale de la plaque 7 de rigidification. Selon la réalisation représentée, les parties extrêmes 9 sont embouties de manière à présenter une section moindre que celle de la partie médiane 11. En variante non représentée, l'insert 8 peut être sous forme de profilé obtenu 15 par extrusion. Selon la réalisation représentée, le cache bagages 1 comprend en outre deux embouts 12 respectifs en matériau synthétique moulé formant les moyens de verrouillage 10, les parties extrêmes 9 étant logées dans lesdits embouts de 20 manière à les renforcer. Les embouts 12 étant obtenus par moulage, il est très aisé de les conformer pour qu'ils présentent une géométrie optimisée pour coopérer avec les moyens de verrouillage réciproques 13, géométrie qui peut être malaisée à obtenir par 25 simple emboutissage et/ou découpe de l'insert 8 en ses parties extrêmes 9.
