BOX CARDBOARD FOR PACKAGING AND PRESENTATION

MERCHANDISE

  The present invention relates to cardboard packaging and particularly relates to a cardboard box for packaging and presentation of goods.

  It is already widely known packaging intended to contain goods either for the purpose of their transport and storage, or even for their presentation for sale after they have been opened. It is even known that one of the requirements most often required, both by the manufacturers of such types of packaging and by the users, is the simplicity, to the greatest extent possible, of the opening of the boxes. avoiding the use of means such as scissors or knives (whose use can even damage the product contained in the box), without weakening the strength of the box compared to that of a traditional box, for example the classic box so-called American, while respecting the requirements of the distribution which requires the presence of a sufficient space for written mentions, marks and decorations on the part of the box intended to remain in view during the presentation of the goods.

  One type of tear-open box that satisfies these requirements is the so-called Patricia Case type illustrated in FIG. 1. The box is formed of two parts in different cartons: a base 1, in a finer and precious white cardboard, in which remains the product after opening, and a lid 2, in a resistant but aesthetically less valuable cardboard, which is discarded after being removed. The two pieces are fastened together by the manufacturer of the box by means of gluing in zones 3 situated below slots 4 made on the opposite side walls of the lid, in which the hands are put to pull on the lid and separate it from the base 1.

  This box, as a whole, has the structure of an American box and therefore has the advantage of not requiring special machines for its manufacture, and it can be performed on traditional manufacturing lines. However, it has the disadvantage of a high cost due to the fact that it is made of two separate sheets of cardboard with different characteristics and it also requires a quantity of cardboard substantially greater than that which would be necessary to use because of the partial superposition of the respective side walls of the base and the lid.

  The object of the present invention is to provide a cardboard box for the packaging and presentation of goods which, thanks to its original structure, has a lower production cost than that of the so-called Patricia Case box while retaining all the positive qualities of the latter.

  More specifically, the present invention relates to a cardboard box for packaging and presentation of goods, formed of a base for containing the goods and a lid part engaged in said base and above said goods and being separable by pulling, said base comprising four parallel two-by-two side walls and four lower bands foldably extending from the respective sides of said walls and adapted to cooperate together to form the bottom of said box, a pair of non-consecutive side walls having different heights, the other pair of side walls having at least one inclined side portion to be connected to said pair of walls of different heights, said base and said cover part being obtained from the same sheet of cardboard and being interconnected by at least two insertion tabs, characterized by the fact that said cover portion is formed of two parallel side walls and an intermediate connecting wall, as well as upper strips extending foldably respectively from respective sides of said walls and adapted to cooperate together to form the cover portion for the closure of said box, the opposite sides of the two parallel side walls having an inclined portion parallel to the inclined portion of the sides of the side walls of the base, the intermediate wall being substantially coplanar with the wall of height less than that of said base, said tabs connecting in pairs the sides having the inclined portions of the side walls of said base and said lid portion being interposed therebetween, the height of said intermediate wall of said lid portion being equal to the upper height of said pair of side walls that have an incl side portion ined.

  According to another characteristic of the invention, said insertion tabs are secured to the side walls of said base along connecting lines adapted to allow the folding of said tabs on said walls during the formation of the box, and are connected at the side walls of said lid portion along precut lines to facilitate tearing along them at the time of opening the box.

  According to another characteristic of the invention, in correspondence of said precut lines, one of the outer sheets of the cardboard is cut off and the wave or waves placed between the outer sheets.

  According to another characteristic of the invention, one of the walls of the pair of walls of different heights of said base is formed in two parts superimposed at least partially to allow their mutual interconnection by means of an adhesive.

  According to another characteristic of the invention, in preliminary planar development, the distance between the side of the intermediate wall of said cover portion and the fold line of the side wall of lesser height than that of said base is equal to twice the height of said insertion tabs.

  According to another characteristic of the invention, in said insertion lugs and said side walls of the lid part, there is provided a respective window, for bringing said side walls into contact with the side walls of said base during the folding of said legs and allow their mutual fixation.

  According to another characteristic of the invention, there are provided adhesive surface portions on the side walls having inclined sides of said base to allow the attachment of said insertion tabs and said side walls of said cover portion.

  According to another characteristic of the invention, on said side walls of said lid part, openings are made to exert on the latter a traction force sufficient to allow tearing along said precut lines and consequently the lifting of the cover part.

  According to another characteristic of the invention, on the lateral wall of said base forming the posterior part of the box, is made, close to the upper band, an opening allowing the introduction of a hand to exert traction on said sufficient cover portion to obtain the tearing along said precut lines and the lifting by rotation of said cover portion.

  The invention will now be described in more detail in the following description of an embodiment, given by way of non-limiting example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: - Figure 1 is a perspective view of a Patricia Case type box according to the prior art; FIG. 2 represents a perspective view of the box according to the invention; FIG. 3 represents a planar development of the box according to the invention; FIG. 4 represents a planar development of the box according to the invention after translation of its lid part relative to the base; - Figure 5 shows a sectional view along the arrows V-V in Figure 4, a detail in the constitution of the box according to the invention; - Figure 6 shows a perspective view of an alternative embodiment of the box according to the invention; Figure 7 shows a planar development of the box according to the embodiment 10 illustrated in Figure 6; FIG. 8 represents a planar development of the box illustrated in FIG. 6 after translation of its lid part relative to the base; and FIG. 9 represents, seen in section along the arrows IX-IX in FIG. 8, a detail of embodiment of the box according to FIG. 6.

  Referring to Ila Figure 2, the box according to the invention comprises a base 10 adapted to contain goods and a cover portion 20 adapted to engage in the base of the box 10 to enclose the goods it is able to contain.

  As shown in Figure 3, which shows a planar development of the box according to the invention, the base 10 is formed of four consecutive side walls, respectively referenced 11, 12 and 13, 14, parallel in pairs when the box is made , and four lower strips respectively referenced 15, 16, 17 and 18, extending collapsible on the respective sides of said walls and adapted to cooperate with each other to form the bottom of the box.

  It should be noted that, in this embodiment of the invention, the side wall 14, and the corresponding lower strip 18, are made of two superimposable parts to allow their mutual attachment by means of a gluing. It is clear that, alternatively, it can be provided a single wall 14, and a single lower strip 18, extending for example from the side wall 11, and a single fixing edge extending from the opposite side wall 12.

  The sidewalls are bonded to each other by preformed fold lines 19a. Similar preformed fold lines 19b are provided between the lower and the respective side walls.

  The opposite side walls 13 and 14 have different heights and in particular the height of the wall 14 is greater than that of the wall 13 and equal to the height of the box. The two other opposite side walls 11 and 12 which are located between the walls 13 and 14 have, on their side opposite to that from which the respective lower strips 15 and 16 extend, a portion 30 inclined in the direction which goes from the maximum height of the side wall 14 at the minimum height of the opposite side wall 13.

  The cover portion 20 comprises a pair of opposite side walls 21 and 22 corresponding to the walls 11 and 12 of the base 10 and substantially coplanar with them (when the box is made) and an intermediate wall 23 which interconnects the walls 21 and 22. via preformed fold lines 24, this intermediate wall 23 corresponding to the side wall 13 of the base 10 and being substantially coplanar with it (when the box is made). The side walls 21, 22 and 23 are foldably connected along preformed fold lines 28 to upper bands 25, 26 and 27 adapted to cooperate together and with an upper band 29 extending foldably from of the side wall 14 of the base 10, to achieve the upper closure of the box.

  The intermediate wall 23 of the cover portion 20 has a height equal to the height of the box and therefore equal to the upper height of the walls 11 and 12 of the base 10, while the sides of the side walls 21 and 22 of the cover portion Opposed to those from which the upper strips 25 and 26 extend, have an inclined portion 31 parallel to the inclined portion 30 of the corresponding sides of the walls 11 and 12 of the base 10.

  As is still shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, the base 10 and the cover portion 20 are parts of one and the same sheet of cardboard interconnected by means of foldable tabs 32 and 33 located at the most end. remote from the side walls 13, 23 of the inclined portions 30, 31 of the sides of the side walls 11, 21 and 12, 22. In particular, the tabs 32, 33 are connected to the side walls 11, 12 of the base 10 along lines preformed folds 34 and aligned with each other, while they are bonded to the side walls 21, 22 of the cover portion 20 along precut lines 35.

  The configuration developed in plan shown in Figure 3 is that resulting from pre-cutting an initial cardboard sheet. In such a configuration, the foldable insertion tabs 32 and 33 are coplanar with the portions of the pre-cut cardboard sheet constituting the base 10 and the lid portion 20 of the box. In such a condition, the distance D between the side 23a of the intermediate wall 23 opposite the side from which the upper band 27 extends, and the bottom side 13a of the side wall 13 of the base 10 is equal to twice the height H of the tabs 32 and 33. Thanks to dimensional relationship debt, by folding the tabs 32 and 33 around the fold lines 34 to fold down on the side walls 11, 12, as shown in Figure 4, the part of the pre-cut cardboard sheet corresponding to the cover portion 20 is translated relative to the corresponding portion of the base 10 partially overlapping the latter and bringing the side 23a of the intermediate wall 23 in coincidence with the side 13a of the side wall 13. In this way, during the realization of the box, the intermediate wall 23 of the cover portion 20 will rest directly on the bottom of the box consisting of the lower strips 15-18 .

  To increase the support length of the cover portion 20 on the bottom of the box, its side walls 21 and 22 have respective planar portions 40 which extend from the inclined portions 30 and 31. By increasing the inclination of the inclined portions 30 and 31 as shown in dashed lines in FIG. 3, it is possible to increase the support length 40 of the side walls 21 and 22.

  Advantageously, the precut made between the foldable insertion tabs 32 and 33 and the side walls 21 and 22 of the cover portion 20 is made so as to leave intact only one of the two outer sheets of the carton. As illustrated in the enlarged view of FIG. 5, either the inner wave C1 or the sheet C2 which is between the tab 32 (33) and the wall 11, when the tab 32 (33) is folded over the latter, is previously cut, without cutting the other sheet C3 between the tab 32 (33) and the wall 21. Since the tab 32 (33) is attached to the side wall 11 (12) by an adhesive layer 37, when exercised a pulling force on the cover portion 20 to separate it from the base 10, tearing the paper, since the sheet C3 pulls from the wave C1 in correspondence with the tab 32 (33). The separation of the cover portion 20 can thus be obtained extremely simply and quickly.

  The embodiment of the box according to the invention described above is suitable for manual closure, but may have disadvantages if the box is closed with automatic systems. For, the thrust exerted by the helical screw, which is in the automatic closing systems, folds the long upper strips on the short already folded on the box, and thus causes the walls of the lid part to move away, from which extend said long strips, and corresponding walls of the base, with the result that the long strips tend to rise relative to each other, making it imprecise closure of the box.

  The embodiment variant illustrated in FIGS. 6-9 obviates the drawback mentioned above. In these figures are indicated with the same reference numbers the elements which are the same as those in the embodiment according to Figures 2-5. This variant differs from the embodiment described above in that, as illustrated in Figure 7, near the fold lines 34 between the side walls 11 and 12 and the tabs 32 and 33, there is provided either a layer of adhesive 37 which allows the attachment of the tab 32 (33) with the wall 11 (12), or a subsequent adhesive layer 38, next to the previous one, by means of which the walls 21 and 22 of the lid part 20 are also fixed to the walls 11 and 12. In particular, for this purpose, a window 39 is cut between the tabs 32 and 33 and the side walls 21 and 22 of the cover portion 20, obtained by eliminating a substantially triangular portion of the tabs 32 and / or 33 and, symmetrically with respect to the preformed connection 34, are applied the adhesive layers 38 on the side walls 11 and 12 of the base 10. In this way, when the legs 32 and 33 are folded down on the side walls 11 and 12 and come to xer on the latter by means of the respective adhesive layers 37, the side walls 21 and 22 of the cover portion 20 also come into contact with the side walls 11 and 12 of the base 10 through the windows 39 and fix themselves on these last by means of adhesive layers 38.

  With such an arrangement, since the side walls 21 and 22 of the cover portion 20 are integral with the side walls 11 and 12 of the base 10 near fold line 28, the upper strips 25 and 26 extending from said walls yield to the closing thrust given by the helical screw of the automatic closure system by folding without departing from each other said walls and without superimposing one on the other.

  To make it easier to grip the lid part 20 when it is to be separated from the base 10 to open and transform the box into a presentation material, on the side walls 21 and 22 of the cover part 20 two openings 41 are made, substantially adjacent the foldable insertion tabs 32 and 33, into which the hands can be inserted to exert the traction necessary to tear and lift the lid portion.

  Alternatively, especially in the case where there is not sufficient space to make the openings 41 on the walls 21 and 22, or even in addition, an opening 42 can be made (schematically shown in FIGS. and 8) on the wall 14 of the base 10 forming the rear part of the box.

  In this case, the lifting of the cover portion 20 no longer occurs by translation, but rather by rotation about its lower side 23a and bending the edge of the carton immediately adjacent to said side.

  Finally, to increase the strength of the box structure, additional adhesive spots 44 (visible in FIG. 7) can be provided on the walls 11 and 12 in positions substantially symmetrical with respect to the wall 13 to allow the fixing the lower ends of the walls 21 and 22 of the cover portion 20 to the base 10.

  It should be noted that, compared with similar prior solutions (for example the boxes as described in patents GB 2392149 and FR 2713597), the advantage of the box according to the invention lies in the fact that the superposition of the part cover on the base occurs only on three peripheral walls, while the wall that serves for the side connection through the bonding means is part of the base and is therefore not subject to variations in positioning of the cover portion. This involves minor differences in production and the possibility of using standard machines. It is actually possible to first engage their conveyor belts on the outer face of the planar development to work on the inner side; then the belts pass on the inner faces to apply the glue and then begin the folding phase.

  The invention is not limited to the embodiments described and illustrated above, but may include other embodiments.

Claims (1)

9 CLAIMS   1 - Carton box for the packaging and presentation of goods formed of a base (10) for containing the goods and a cover part (20) engaged in said base and above said goods and which can be tension-separated, said base comprising four parallel parallel side walls (11, 12, 13, 14) and four lower bands (15, 16, 17, 18) extending foldably from respective sides of said walls and able to cooperate together to form the bottom of said box, a pair of non-consecutive side walls (11, 12) having different heights, the other pair of side walls (13, 14) having at least one side portion ( 30) inclined to connect to said pair of walls of different heights, said base (10) and said cover portion (20) being obtained from the same sheet of cardboard and being interconnected by at least two legs of insertion (32, 33), characterized in that said cover portion (20) is formed of two parallel side walls (21, 22) and an intermediate connecting wall (23), as well as upper bands (25, 26, 27) extending foldably respectively from the respective sides of said walls and adapted to cooperate together to form the cover portion for closing said box, the opposite sides of the two parallel side walls having an inclined portion (31) parallel to the inclined portion ( 30) sides of the side walls of the base (10), the intermediate wall (23) being substantially coplanar with the wall (13) of less height than that of said base, said tabs (32, 33) connecting in pairs the sides having the inclined portions (30, 31) of the side walls of said base and said cover portion being interposed therebetween, the height of said intermediate wall (23) of said lid portion; as equal to the greater height of said pair of side walls (11, 12) have a portion of its inclined side.   2 - Box according to claim 1, wherein said insertion tabs (32, 33) are integral with the side walls (11, 12) of said base (10) along connecting lines (34) adapted to allow the drawdown said tabs on said walls during formation of the box, and are connected to the side walls (21, 22) of said cover portion (20) along precut lines (35) to facilitate tearing along them; ci at the moment of opening the box.   3 - Box according to one of claims 1 and 2, wherein, in correspondence of said precut lines (35), it is cut one of the outer sheets (C2) of the cardboard and the wave or waves (Cl) arranged between the outer sheets.   4 - Box according to one of the preceding claims, wherein one of the walls (14) of the pair of walls (13, 14) of different heights of said base (10) is formed in two parts overlapping at least partially to allow their mutual interlocking by means of an adhesive.   - Box according to one of the preceding claims, wherein, in preliminary planar development, the distance (D) between the side (23a) of the intermediate wall (23) of said cover portion (20) and the fold line (13a ) of the side wall (13) of lower height than that of said base (10) is equal to twice the height (H) of said insertion lugs (32, 33).   6 - Box according to one of the preceding claims, wherein in said insertion tabs (32, 33) and said side walls (21, 22) of the cover portion (20) is provided a respective window (39) , to bring said side walls (21, 22) into contact with the side walls (11, 12) of said base (10) during the folding of said legs and allow their mutual attachment.   7 - Box according to claim 6, wherein there are provided adhesive surface portions (37, 38) on the side walls (11, 12) having inclined sides of said base to allow the attachment of said insertion lugs (32, 38). 33) and said side walls (21, 22) of said cover portion.   8 - Box according to one of the preceding claim, wherein on said side walls (21, 22) of said cover portion (20) are formed openings (41) to exert on the latter a sufficient traction force to allow tearing along said precut lines (35) and consequently the lifting of the lid portion.   9 - Box according to one of claims 1 to 7, wherein, on the side wall (14) of said base forming the rear part of the box, is made, near the upper band (29), an opening ( 42) allowing the introduction of a hand to exert traction on said cover portion sufficient to obtain the tearing along said precut lines and the lifting by rotation of said cover portion.
