Abstract

  The invention relates to the technical sector of locks intended for the building industry. Generally, in the building sector, there are essentially two main types of locks, namely: locks with

  recessed and locks applied.

  The invention relates to surface-mounted locks, i.e. locks

  intended to be fixed on the surface of a door or gate part.

  1 5 In a known manner, this type of lock essentially comprises a body generally in the form of a housing internally receiving a mechanism for controlling and locking a sliding or pivoting bolt controlled by a nut in combination or not with a deadbolt secured to a cylinder. The entire mechanism is protected by

  a cover which covers the basic case.

  If we consider the apparent application of this type of lock, it sometimes happens that depending on where it is actually placed, and in particular in the context of a support structure which is not full, as can be the case for example for a gate, the body of the lock projects beyond the amount of the gate, which requires the use of an insert capable of closing off the space resulting from the projecting part of the housing

  of the lock. Generally, this added element has a squared return which harms the reversible nature of the lock, for opening on the right or

for opening to the left.

  It is also observed that the apparent locks currently used have a relatively large thickness and use, for the production of the entire housing, that is to say of the support part receiving the mechanism with the protective part acting cover, two completely separate parts, of a completely different design,

  0 thus harming a rationalization of manufacturing.

  It is also observed that, very often, intervention on the control and locking mechanism is delicate and requires, in

  in most cases, call a specialist.

  The object of the invention is to remedy these drawbacks,

  simple, safe, efficient and rational way.

  The problem which the invention proposes to solve is to produce a lock intended to be applied as a wall lamp, which is perfectly reversible, using the same element acting as a hubcap to fill the space resulting from the projecting part of the body. the lock, both when the latter is intended to be mounted on the right or on the left. We also wanted to streamline manufacturing, using almost identical identical standard elements for manufacturing the body of the lock.

  To solve such a problem, it has been designed and developed a set of locks intended to be applied on the upright, in particular of a door or gate, remarkable in that it comprises a body made up of two half-shells nestable, one of which receives a flat mechanism for actuating and locking a bolt, while the other acts as a cover, said half-shells having fastening arrangements between them and relative to the upright, the edge vertical of the assembled half-shells arranged opposite to that o overflows the bolt, receiving, in a fixed manner, a reversible protective element acting as hubcap of U-shaped cross section whose width and depth are determined to fill the space delimited by the thickness of the upright and the projecting part of the body with respect to said upright, said projecting part having the means for actuating the

  To solve the problem posed of using the same protective element when the lock is used indifferently to the right or to the left, the protective element has a lateral tab capable of being engaged in support in a recess formed in the thickness of the edge of each of the half-shells, the width of said corresponding tab

  substantially the thickness of the two assembled half-shells.

  To solve the problem of securing the protective element relative to the body of the lock, the tab has fixing arrangements with the corresponding recess of the edges of the half-shells.

  To solve the problem posed of avoiding an unexpected lifting of the gate receiving the lock, the half-shell receiving the mechanism has an overflow from its vertical edge located on the side of the bolt, a finger capable of cooperating with the base of a strike that has a fixed part of the opening

equipped with door or gate.

  From this basic design, each half-shell has a general quadrangular shape, notably rectangular, with edges

  upper and lower rectilinear or shaped like a policeman's hat.

  In view of these provisions, this results in total reversibility of the body and of the hubcap which covers the structure. When applying directly to a door, the element serving as a trim is not necessary. In view of these provisions, after fixing the lock on the corresponding structure, the vertical edges of a half-shell constituting the body of the lock are perfectly aligned with the tubular structure, the other vertical edge of the projecting part being

  advantageously integrated with the element serving as a hubcap.

  The protruding part of the lock body has in particular the cylinder and the follower so that no drilling is necessary at the level

  The half-shell (2) receives flat, in its cavity (2b), an actuation and locking mechanism, while the other half-shell (3),

  The two half-shells have, in their height, fixing arrangements between them and relative to the upright (M). For example, the half-shells (2) and (3) are pierced with holes (2c and 3c) high, low and intermediate, which are offset on the side of the latch bolt (4) relative to the vertical axis of the half -shells, to ensure, by screws (5) passing therethrough, the fixing of said half-shells on the upright with their vertical edge (2d and 3d) in alignment with the external edge (M1) of the upright,

  their opposite edge (2nd and 3rd) extending beyond the internal edge (M2) of the upright.

  The vertical edges (2nd and 3rd) of the half-shells have, in most of their height, recesses (2f - 3f) intended for

  receiving the side tab (6a) of a protective element (6) forming a hubcap.

  The element (6) has a U-shaped cross section whose width and depth are determined to fill the space delimited by the thickness of the upright and the projecting part of the body relative to said upright,

  as shown, for example, in Figures 6, 7 and 8.

  Fixing screws (7), at the top and bottom, pass through holes (6b) in the hubcap to cooperate with threaded half-holes (2g and 3g) made

  on the internal edges of the recesses (2f and 3f).

  It is in this projecting part of the body that are arranged, in orifices (2h - 2i) and (3h - 3i), on the one hand, a cylinder (8) of the lock and a hinge pin (4a) of the latch bolt (4) cooperating with each other and with elements necessary for operation, it being understood that these members

  may be different depending on the type of lock.

  For the good understanding, it is recalled that in the case of a pivoting latch bolt, said latch bolt (4) present at its head

  articulation (4b) a leaf spring (9) bearing at the top of the cavity (2b -

  3b) half-shells for the automatic return to the bottom of said bolt after actuation by a handle (11) cooperating with the internal square

(4c) of the joint (4b).

  The cylinder (8) is fixed in translation relative to the half-shells, by means of one of the screws (7) locking the hubcap screwing into a threaded hole (8a) of the cylinder which, moreover, substantially in the alignment of said threaded hole, a ring (10) angularly indexed with the cylinder barrel. A projection (10a) of the ring (10) cooperates with the notch (14a) of a plate forming an unlocker (14) which is slidably controlled by lights (14b) on guide pins (15) integral of

the half-shell (2).

  In front of the unlocking device (14) is mounted, with free articulation, a locking tab (16) whose edge, on the side of the cylinder (8), has a projection (16a) intended to cooperate with the projection (10a) of the ring cylinder control when the barrel is actuated, and thus to tilt the tongue against a leaf spring (17) equipping said cylinder

  tongue and resting against the vertical wall of the cavity (2b) of the half

shell (2).

  In this tilting action, a finger (14c) secured to the unlocker (14) and which was, in the locked position, housed in the notch

  lower (16bl) of a profiled opening (16b) of the locking tab, is released. By continuing the action on the barrel, the projection (10Oa) cooperating with the notch (14a) of the locker pushes up said locker. At the end of the maneuver, the finger (14c) is at the top of the window (16b) and can be housed in the upper notch (16b2) of said window, after

  elastic return in position of the tongue.

  In parallel, the upper pin (15) of the unlocker (14) serves as a stop by a lower notch (4d) to the bolt (4). In the locked position (FIG. 3), a locking finger (14d) secured to the unlocker at its upper part, is supported on said bolt at the level of an upper notch (4th), thus prohibiting the lifting of the bolt by action on the handle, while in the unlocked position (FIG. 4), said bolt can be pivoted because

  the unlocker is in the upper position.

  Note that the locking tab (16) is advantageously articulated on a stud (2j) of the half-shell (2) which, in combination with another stud (2k) at the top, constitute fixing points for the half shells between them. The unlocker (14) covers the stud (2d) by

a notch (14th).

  To avoid an unexpected lifting of the gate receiving the lock, the half-shell (2) has, beyond its vertical edge located on the side of the bolt, a finger (18) capable of. cooperate with the base of a keeper (19)

  that has a fixed or dormant part (F) of the opening.

  The advantages are apparent from the description, in particular one

Claims (2)

  -1 - Lock assembly intended to be applied on the upright (M) in particular of a door or gate, characterized in that it comprises a body (1) consisting of two interlocking half-shells (2 - 3) one of which (2) receives a flat mechanism for actuating and locking a bolt, while the other (3) acts as a cover, said half-shells having fixing arrangements (5 - 7) between them and relative to the upright (M), the 1 0 vertical edge of the assembled half-shells arranged opposite that o overhangs a bolt (4) receiving, in a fixed manner, a reversible protective element (6) acting as a hubcap, of U-shaped cross section, the width and depth of which are determined to fill the space delimited by the thickness of the upright and the projecting part of the body with respect to said upright, said projecting part presenting the means of actuation of locking mechanism.   -2- Lock assembly according to claim 1, characterized in that the protective element (6) has a side face (6a) capable of being engaged in abutment in a recess (2f- 3f) formed in the thickness of the edge (2nd - 3rd) of each of the half-shells, the width of said tab corresponding substantially to the thickness of the two assembled half-shells. -3- Lock assembly according to claim 2, characterized in that the tab (6a) has arrangements (6b - 7) for fixing with the recess   corresponding to the songs of the half-shells.   il 2788077 -4- Lock assembly according to claim 1, characterized in that the half-shell (2) receiving the mechanism has an overflow from its vertical edge (2d) located on the side of the bolt (4), a finger (18 ) able to cooperate with the base of a keeper (19) which has a fixed part (F) of the opening equipped with door or gate.   -5- Lock assembly according to claim 1, characterized in that each half-shell (2 - 3) has a generally quadrangular shape, especially rectangular.   -6- Lock assembly according to claim 5, characterized in that the upper and lower edges of each half-shell (2 - 3) are straight. -7- Lock assembly according to claim 5, characterized in that the upper and / or lower edges of each half-shell (2 - 3)   are profiled in gendarme hat.
