Claims (8)

Locking device for a sliding door, window or the like, comprising a sliding wing (1) provided with a "U"-profile-shaped front stile (5) capable of fitting in a "U"-shaped profile (8) forming the stile corresponding to the sash-frame (2), in closing position, the bottoms (14, 10) of each of these "U"-shaped profiles (5, 8) keeping between each other a distance such as to define a free space (29) in which are positioned, on the one hand, at least one hook latch (20) integral with an operating rod (19) movable in a groove (13) made inside and parallelly to the bottom (14) of the "U"-shaped profile (5) of the sliding wing (1), this operating rod (19) being actuated by an espagnolette or bolt lock and, on the other hand, at least one keeper (25) secured in said "U"-shaped profile (8) of the sash-frame (2) and co-operating with said hook latch (20) to lock the sliding wing (1), locking device characterized in that it includes, on the operating rod (19), means for compensating, in the event of a reduction of the cross-section of at least one of the "U"-shaped profiles (5, 8) of the sliding wing (1) or the sash-frame (2), for the reduction of the distance between the bottom (14) of said "U"-shaped profile (5) of the sliding wing (1) and the bottom (10) of the "U"-shaped profile (8) corresponding to the sash-frame (2), in order to authorize the insertion in the free space (29) so defined of the hook latch (20) and the keeper (25) co-operating with this latter.

Locking device according to claim 1, characterized in that the compensating means at the level of the operating rod (19) are comprised of at least one vertical slot (31) made in the operating rod (19) and located at the locations of the hooking-in areas (26), this vertical slot (31) having a width (32) at least equal to the width (33) of the front portion (34) of the keeper (25) engaging into the operating rod (19).

Locking device according to claims 1 and 2, characterized in that the compensating means at the level of the operating rod (19) are comprised of a recess (51) made in the front face (50) of a rectangular emboss (49) protruding with respect to the front face (43) of a hook latch (20) including a body (37) extending beyond the upper (41) and lower edge (42) of the vertical slot (31) of the operating rod (19).

Locking device according to claims 1 and 3, characterized in that the vertical slot (31) of the operating rod (19) has a height (55) at least equal to the sum of the height (56) of the rectangular emboss (49) and the height (57) of the hook (21) of the hook latch (20), the rectangular emboss (49) and the hook (21) penetrating into the vertical slot (31) of the operating rod (19).
  5. Locking device according to claim 3, characterized in that the recess (51) made in the front face (50) of the rectangular emboss of the body (37) of the hook latch (20) has a width at least equal to the width (33) of the front portion (34) of the keeper (25).
