Abstract

The safety device has a stop (8) which is at right angles to the surface of the door frame (24). The stop is sufficiently long to maintain a an adequate space to prevent injury (26). A sliding component (8) is fixed to the stop which moves by translation in the body formed by the housing of the lock and guides (6, 6, 9). An arm (10) is fixed to the sliding component which is held against the other arm (11) which is fixed to the body (14) which lengthens the bolt (16). The stop (8) is held facing the door frame by the sliding component and a spring (4) inside the housing. There is a retaining lug (3) held in place by a spring (1) which is fitted into the slot (7) on the sliding component using a catch on the lug. The surface of the stop (8) which comes into contact with the doorframe is covered in a coating of rubber (19).

Description

The present invention relates to a device for stopping a door leaf, window or other elements of the same kind, having the aim, by stopping the stroke of the leaf when it is closed, of keeping a safety space of a few centimeters between the leaf and the frame of any opening. (or, as the case may be, between the two leaves of the same opening)
This device according to the various aspects of the invention will always keep the same track for maintaining a safety space depending on whether it is fixed to the frame or the leaf of any opening and that i 1 is integrated into any closure system or mounted independently of it.

In addition to the current current door stop devices intended to limit the opening of the door, such as security systems with chains or stop notches, most systems used to limit the closing of the door are systems aimed above all at keeping the door in an open position such as devices fixed on the floor or on the bottom of the door or even sliding between the floor and the bottom of the door)
Note also the existence of "door dampers", devices used to brake the travel of the leaf so that it closes slowly.

This system has the disadvantage of not preventing the complete closure of the leaf and therefore the risks, in the event of sudden closure, of cutting a body or an object which would remain wedged between the two parts of the opening. On the other hand this device is not removable and there is no provision for a system allowing the device to be temporarily "out of service" if necessary.

The present invention aims to provide a security device finding its use in the event of a sudden and usually involuntary closing of the door. Indeed, drafts and 1 children's games, among others, represent a permanent danger. By stopping the stroke of the leaf it prevents any body or object from being trapped between the leaf and the frame of any opening, thus avoiding various accidents and traumas. Are particularly concerned children (hands, fingers,) and pets. (cat tail, ... etc.)
The essential characteristics relating to this invention are - A stop which is perpendicular to the surface of the frame and which is of sufficient length to leave free a safety space.

- A sliding element moving by a translational movement in a body formed by the case of the lock on the one hand and by guides arranged inside this boftier on the other hand.

- An arm fixed to the slide element and stretched in support of another arm, the latter being fixed to the body extending the bolt. The assembly is held by a spring fixed in the case to allow the stop to face the frame.

- A cleat held by a spring can be housed in the notch fitted on the slide element in the event of the device being "out of service" by the user thanks to an external ratchet fixed on this cleat.

- The bearing surface of the stop coming into contact with the frame is provided with a rubber coating to absorb the impact of the leaf.

- According to another variant, the stop is composed of a boot sliding on another stop; A spring is fixed by its two ends between the case and the stop by two screws.

- According to another aspect of the invention, the device is mounted independently of any lock or other closure system. The case is mounted on the leaf or the frame of an opening, the spring maintains the stop by its sliding element facing the other part of the opening. On the slide is arranged a groove housing a ring fixed to a ratchet exiting outside 1 to be able to circulate or abut in the opening arranged in the case.

- According to another aspect of the invention, an "S" bar fixed on the frame maintains a sufficient safety space between the frame and the leaf of any opening, or between two leaves of the same opening. The slide element slides in a body fixed on the "S" bar. On this body is arranged a groove in which a pawl slides which allows the user to put the device "in" or "out of service" - According to another aspect of the invention an adjustable stop is screwed on the end of a sliding axis in a cylindrical case fixed in the frame, a nut fixed on the stop holding, by tightening with one axis, the adjustment of the stop.

The end of the stopper comes in two variants, either with a rubber coating or with a spring in a cylinder sliding on the stopper to absorb the shock of the striking of a leaf on the frame of an opening.

 The present invention, in various forms, has the advantage of being able to be fixed to one or the other of the parts of an opening (leaf, frame, or other fixed or mobile parts), moreover it can be integrated into other devices concerning all the openings, but it can also be mounted separately from any other devices even on already existing openings.

 Its easy installation (by screw or adhesive) and its simple handling, either by actuating the handle of the lock or by pushing a ratchet are also other advantages.

 In addition, for each of all these versions (either fixed on the leaf or the frame or integrated in a closing system) the user can choose to use the device and keep it in the "out of service" position.

 n also point out that this device can be combined with other door stop or safety devices without hampering their operation.

 Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will emerge in the description below with reference to the drawings appended to this specification.

 FIG. 1 of plate 1/4 is a front view showing the invention with all the elements attached to its functions, integrated in an existing lock box.

 This device is composed of a stop (8) fixed on a slide (8 '). A spring (4) fixed in the case holds, by the slide (8 '), the stop (8) or (21) (22) in the stop position. This movement is exerted continuously at the same time as the bolt (FIG 5).

To completely close the door leaf, the user will usually operate the handle (25). The hook (17) actuated by the element (18) of the handle (25) will return the bolt (lob) inside the case by its extension (14) stopped at the end of the race by the stop (13).

 An arm (11) fixed to the extension of the bolt (14) will drive, by its translational movement towards the inside of the cover, the assembly (e) or (21) (22) and (8 ') by means of another arm (10 ) fixed to the slide element (8 '), which will allow the release of the stop far from the surface of the frame (24), see (P8) FIG. 6. The door will be closed completely without any additional parallel movement.

And, while the bolt (lb) takes its place in its keeper (23), the stop (8) will remain in abutment on the inside of the door frame using the spring (4). see P8 FI6.7.

 To open the door, the user will apply the usual movement on the handle (25), and the movements of the lock mechanism and the invented device will follow one another as indicated above. Once the door open and the handle (25) laced, the spring (4) will immediately bring the stop (8) into action facing the surface (24) of the frame, at the same time as the exit of the bolt by the spring (12 ). See P8 FIG.5.

 To temporarily put this device "out of service", it suffices to manually push the stop towards the interior of the cabinet until the latch (3) engages in the notch (7) using the spring such). To release it, simply push the cleat (2) upwards, guided by (5) and (5 '), and the spring (4) will instantly bring the stopper in function opposite the frame.

 FIG.2 is a section view on the right of the invention integrated into a lock system according to FIG.1 and having a first variant characterized by a rubber covering the bearing surface of the stop.

 FIGS 8 & FIG.9 of plate 2/4 represents the same device with some modifications. According to another aspect of the invention, it is independent of any other closure system.

 This device is composed of a stop (8) fixed on a slide (8 '). A spring (4) fixed in the box holds, by the slide (8 '), the stop (8) or (21) (22) in the stop position.

 To completely close the door frame, the user must use the other hand to release the stop (8) or (21) (22) from the frame and the pawl (2) fixed on the ring (29) housed in the groove ( 27) will slide horizontally into the opening in the case, see FIG.12.

According to another aspect of the invention an "S" bar fixed to the frame by screws maintains a sufficient safety space between the frame and the leaf of any opening.

The slide element slides in a body fixed on the "S" bar. On this body is arranged a groove in which slides a pawl fixed to a ring housed in a groove which allows the user to put the device "in" or "out" of service by tilting it in one of the two vertical openings according to the need.

 FIG. 14 shows another solution of the system attaching to the frame and where the stop is actuated with a rotational and translational movement.

This solution is rather valid for heavy doors and giving on the outside (entry door).

 According to another aspect of the invention, an adjustable stop relative to the depth of each door (see P. FIG. 17) is screwed with the end of a sliding pin in a cylindrical case fixed to the frame, A nut is screwed on the stop maintaining the adjustment with the axis. The other side of the stopper comes in two variants, either with a rubber coating, or with a spring in a sliding cylinder on the stopper, to absorb the shock of the knock on the door.

 Regarding its field of industrial use, a safety device by stopping a door leaf, window or other similar element maintaining a free security space between the leaf and the frame of an opening, made as described above and illustrated by the attached drawings can be used in all cases where there is an opening, that whatever the size, weight and shape of the leaves so that the stop has a sufficient length between the leaf (s) and the frame. It is important that these devices be placed on doors and openings already mounted, after installation of these.
