Abstract

The upper face of the board (1) for supporting objects has parts (2,3) forming feet fixed to its inside face. The board is of honeycombed cardboard and each foot part has an external part in honeycombed cardboard adjoining to a side of the board (1) by a zone of least resistance. This part is notched and folded to form a right prism with parallel end walls at the side of the board (1) to house reinforcing parts (10,11). The two parts forming identical feet (2) are located at the ends of each longitudinal side of the board, and a third foot (3), of different dimensions, is located between the other two. Description

 NEW HANDLING PALLET.

The present invention relates to a new type of handling pallet.

 We know the great popularity of handling the most diverse objects using pallets, because they lend themselves to easy handling of heavy and bulky loads, using transport or lift trucks with a fork which engages the teeth between the legs or the studs by which the pallet rests on the ground or on a support.

 Whereas, originally, the pallets were made of wood, they were then made of the most varied materials and the feet or the studs on which they rest have the most diverse shapes and positions.

 The present invention proposes to take advantage of the exceptional mechanical characteristics of so-called "honeycomb" cardboard to produce pallets whose upper plate is made of this material.

 We know that we call honeycomb or honeycomb cardboard a cardboard structure made up of contiguous prisms or alveoli whose different walls are shared respectively with the adjacent prisms, this structure being pinched between two cover panels perpendicular to the edges of the prisms, against which it is laminated. Preferably, the prisms have a hexagonal section which is at the origin of the name of cardboard in honeycombs given to this alveolar cardboard.

 Such cardboard has remarkable mechanical properties, in particular of compressive strength, and it has been the subject of numerous applications.

 The present invention aims, precisely, to propose a new application of a carton of this type to the production of handling pallets.

 The subject of the invention is therefore a handling or storage pallet comprising a tray, the upper face of which is intended to support the objects to be handled or stored, and elements forming feet, integral with the lower face of this tray, this pallet being characterized in that the tray is made of honeycomb cardboard and in that the feet forming elements each comprise at least one external part of honeycomb cardboard adjoining one side of the tray by a zone of least resistance, this part being notched and folded so as to form a prism with a straight section of edges parallel to the side of the plate to which it is attached.

 Advantageously, the plate of the pallet will be rectangular and the external part of the elements forming the feet of the pallet will be adjacent to the only long sides of the plate of the pallet and the straight prisms will be directed, along each of these large sides, in the extension of each. others.

 Such a pallet may, for example, comprise two feet of identical dimensions arranged at the two ends of each of the longitudinal sides of the pallet and a third foot, possibly of dimensions different from the first, at equal distance between the previous ones. The pallet with rectangular plate thus produced will therefore comprise, along each of its longitudinal sides, two lateral inlets for the teeth of a fork of a handling trolley and a single inlet along each of these transverse sides.

 In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the elements forming the feet will consist solely of a part of honeycomb cardboard adjoining the tray by a zone of least resistance arranged along one of the sides of the tray and folded so as to form a straight prism without internal recess.

 Alternatively, the part adjoining the plate can be folded up so as to form a sheath, in which is housed in a known manner a reinforcing element.

 Optionally, an additional leg may be provided along the middle part of each of the short sides of the tray and be made integral with the tray by any means known in the art (bonding or other).

 FIG. 5 represents a preferred embodiment, in which the feet forming parts consist only of a cellular cardboard element adjoining the tray.

 The pallet shown in Figure 1 comprises a rectangular tray 1, made of honeycomb cardboard, supported by six parts, 2 and 3, forming the feet of the pallet. Legs 2 and 3 have an identical shape and structure, but they simply have different dimensions.

 Each of the legs 2 and 3 consists of a tab of cellular cardboard, respectively 4 and 5, adjoining the plate 1 and folded so as to form a sheath in the form of a straight prism, of square or rectangular section, in which is housed a reinforcement, respectively 10 and 11.

The reinforcement can be made of any suitable material, for example cellular cardboard or expanded polystyrene.

The tongues 4 and S come from the same honeycomb cardboard panel as the tray i and are adjoining the long sides of this tray by a zone of less resistance, respectively 6 and 7 (see FIGS. 2 and 3) of the tongue. These areas of least resistance are obtained by practicing in the mass of the alveolar cardboard, along the edges of the tray 1 corresponding to the long sides of this tray, a V-shaped notch, forming an angle of 900, with the tip of the V flush with the sheet of cardboard which constitutes the cover of the alveolar cardboard constituting the upper face of the tray 1.

 Similarly, notches identical and parallel to the previous ones, respectively 6a, 6b, 6c and 7a, 7b, 7c, are made in the tongues 4 and 5 to define therein rectangular strips, respectively 8a, 8b, 8c, 8d, and 9a, 9b, 9c, 9d, articulated together or on the panel 1 by the notches and intended to form the faces of the sleeves 2 and 3. The end strips of the strips 4 and 5, respectively 8d and 9d, are laminated against the underside of the plate 1.

 Once the sleeves are shaped, it suffices to introduce the reinforcements 10 and 11 therein to obtain a palette of exceptional mechanical resistance.

 It will be noted that, in this embodiment, all the feet of the pallet are constituted by straight prisms arranged along the two longitudinal edges of the plate and oriented longitudinally, in line with one another. These feet define two entries for the teeth of a fork of a handling carriage, along each of the long sides of the plate 1, and an entry for this fork, along the short sides of the plate.

 Naturally, if the dimensions of the plate and / or the mass of the load to be supported require it, an additional foot 12 can be fixed between the feet 2, at the ends of the pallet corresponding to the short sides of the plate 1, as shown in the figure 4.

 As a variant, by using a honeycomb cardboard of sufficient thickness, it is possible to remove the reinforcements from the sheaths of the honeycomb cardboard. Indeed, as shown in FIG. 5, where the organs already described are designated by the same reference numbers assigned to the index ', by judiciously choosing the thickness of the alveolar cardboard, the depth of the notches in V and the width of the sides of the sleeves, it is possible, by folding the strips intended to produce these faces, to form a substantially compact block, without internal recess, which alone constitutes each of the feet 2 ′ or 3 ′ of the pallet.

 This embodiment constitutes a preferred embodiment of the invention.

 It will be noted that an essential advantage of the pallets according to the invention comes from the fact that the alveolar cardboard is a biodegradable and, above all, recyclable product.

Claims (6)

 1. Handling or storage pallet comprising a tray (1), the upper face of which is intended to support the objects to be handled or stored, and elements (2,3) forming feet, integral with the lower face of this tray , this pallet being characterized in that the tray (1) is made of cellular cardboard and in that the elements (2,3) forming feet each comprise at least one external part (4,5) of cellular cardboard adjoining one side of the plate (1) by a zone of least resistance (6,7), this part being notched and folded so as to form a prism with a straight section of stops parallel to the side of the plate (1) to which it is attached.  2. Pallet according to claim 1, the plate (1) of which is rectangular, characterized in that the external part (4, 5) of the feet forming elements (2, 4) of the pallet is attached only to the long sides of the plate ( 1).  3. Pallet according to claim 2, characterized in that it comprises two elements forming feet (2) of identical dimensions, arranged at the ends of each of the longitudinal sides of the plate, and a third foot (3), possibly of different dimensions, disposed between the other two feet, the three elements being arranged in the extension of each other.  4. Pallet according to one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the feet forming elements (2 ', 3') consist only of a part (4, 5) in cellular cardboard adjoining by a zone of least resistance (6, 7) to the plate (1) of the pallet.  5. Pallet according to one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the part (4, 5) of honeycomb cardboard elements forming feet (2, 3) adjoining the plate (1) of the pallet by a zone of lesser resistance is folded and assembled so as to form a sheath, in which is housed a reinforcing element (10, 11).  6. Pallet according to claim 2, characterized in that it comprises an additional foot (12) disposed along the middle part of each of the short sides of the plate (1), below the latter.
